
The movie opens with a journey through the idyllic snow covered streets of Milan that lead us to a stunning bourgeois mansion; home of the wealthy Recchi family. Emma Recchi (Tilda Swinton) is a pale-gold Russian who has married into this wealthy Milanese clan. She watches as her husband and son are named as joint heirs to the family business. Stopping by, on this snowy evening, is a young chef (Edoardo Gabbriellini), who carries a cake, and from that moment on it is food that will bind him to Emma, starting with a lunch that brings her to the brink of orgasm, and ending with a soup that as is clear as the revelation of their love. It marks the start of a passionate love affair that will change the Recchi family forever.
