The Lakewood Home Festival began in 1976 when the Lakewood Early Childhood PTA staged a tour showcasing five distinctive and historic neighborhood homes as a fund raiser to purchase playground equipment for kindergarten children. This year’s Home Tour is sponsored by Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty’s New Lakewood Office. Last year the home festival raised $150,000 for Lakewood Elementary, J.L. Long Middle School, and Woodrow Wilson High School. It has evolved into a series of fantastic events and activities listed below.
Auction Party is ‘the’ social kick-off of the Home Tour! This year’s Pearls and Prohibition Speakeasy Auction Party will open its doors on Friday November 14, 7:00 p.m., at the Belo Mansion in the downtown Dallas Arts District, 2101 Ross Ave. The auction party sells out every year, so guests are encouraged to buy their tickets early.
The Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty Home Tour features distinctive Lakewood-area homes. It is the perfect opportunity to see some of the latest architectural and design trends as well as historical homes restored to look more beautiful than when they were built.
The Holiday Market and Café, held at Lakewood Elementary, transforms the school into a festive holiday bazaar guaranteed to delight any shopper—and just in time for holiday shopping season. I have heard rumors that Santa will be making an appearance to take holiday photos.
The Lakewood Early Childhood PTA (LECPTA) is a network of more than 500 Lakewood and East Dallas families of expectant parents and parents with children from birth through Kindergarten. They are a huge support of each other through the hardships, and joys, of parenthood. The group is a resource of information on parenting, daycare, education systems, neighborhood activities, support from other parents with kids of the same age, and have a lot of fun!
