A Way with Words: An Intimate Evening with Martha and Grant

BB

A Way with Words, the lively call-in public radio show about words and how we use them, is coming to Dallas. Featuring the radio show’s hosts Martha Barnette and Grant Barrett, the event at the Majestic Theater will benefit Aberg Center for Literacy.

Moderated by Krys Boyd, host of KERA 90.1 FM’s midday talk show Think, the performance will spotlight Barnette and Barrett’s wise and witty insights on language, its roots and idiosyncrasies. The evening will include a question and answer exchange with the audience.

“It was a delight to meet our listeners when we were in Dallas two years ago,” adds Barnette. “We’re excited to be partnering with Aberg Center again to raise awareness of the need for adult literacy education.”

“Teaming with A Way with Words is a natural for us,” says Shana Harrison, Aberg Center’s Executive Director. “Whether you are an adult learning English for the first time or a native English speaker trying to enhance your grasp of English language nuances, we can all appreciate and learn from what Martha and Grant have to offer.”

With its Speak/Write/Connect approach, Aberg Center for Literacy has helped hundreds of people learn English and the life skills needed to become fully engaged employees, parents and community members. Fueled largely by dedicated volunteers, Aberg Center, located in East Dallas, offers advanced ESL studies, enrichment classes in computer, health and finance, GED preparation in Spanish and English and family literacy programming. Aberg Center is tuition-free and offers free early childhood education to students’ preschoolers.
