Book : The Million Dollar Mermaid

The Million Dollar Mermaid is an autobiography written by Esther Williams, telling her story of an 18 year old girl who used her stunning aquabatic skills and wholesome appeal to become one of the most famous stars in Hollywood. Recruited by Louis B. Mayer, a Canadian American film producer, Esther quickly gained fame throughout the country. Although Esther made it big, the tale also recounts the dark sides of her extraordinary career, ranging from financial bankruptcy to troubled marriages to cross-dressing lovers.

I cannot confirm that Esther Williams lived at 2605 Winsted drive… But I did grab the book off the coffee table, and what a great read…from training for the Swimming championship to the Olympics, Dropping LSD on Carry Grant’s recommendation, meeting with the Secretary of the US Navy to change The Official Women’s Bathing Suit..and swimming in the White House pool and adding all the Grand Old Hollywood way …this is a fun and historical book. Enjoy. – Scott
