Movie : American Sniper

And the Oscar goes to…

Its wild sometimes as the serendipitous of life unfolds.

I’ve been hearing and reading a lot about this film. The other day, being a cold rainy winter afternoon, it seemed like a soup day. Patrick Bukowitz my Broker Assistant recommended Ocean Prime Restaurant. “They have great French Onion Soup”.

We arrive for our late lunch and take our seats at the bar. We love this area of the restaurant. It’s very chill, great networking, and Alex the Bartender is ever so present. Patrick and I have been jamming as Real Estate 2015 starts off with a bang. I suggest the movie “American Sniper” to take a break before our evening appointments. Alex overhears us and mentions to us that Chris Kyle, the man the movies life was based on, use to office in the building and sat at the bar at the exact place we were sitting. Alex and Chris had become friends, and Alex shared all about Chris’s company, CRAFT, his wife and mostly about Chris… This awesome, patriotic and authentic man.

This film awakened me to a powerful perspective of what really happened over there in Iraq and the soldiers’ lives… Politics aside, what they gave of themselves, of their families, and what they gave to their country.

Bradley Cooper, who played Chris, did so well without overdoing this character by becoming too hokey. His character reminded me why I have to come love the real Texas good-ole boy MEN here in this great state. So kind, humble, simple and yet profound!

On another note, my friend Dan Thouvenot, is chairing The National Veterans Wheelchair Games. It will be held this year in Dallas from June 21-26.

Wheel Chair Games

Please support this cause by getting involved in this timely and important event. the National Veterans Wheelchair Games is a rehabilitation and wheelchair sports program empowering Veterans with spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, amputations and other neurological injuries to live more active and healthy lives through wheelchair sports and recreation. Each summer, Veterans from across the United States, including a team from Great Britain, travel to a new community hosting the NVWG. During the week, Veterans compete in 18 wheelchair sports events while providing encouragement and mentoring for new Veterans. Veterans at the Games truly educate newly disabled Veterans on what is possible and those witnessing the events realize that limitations are only state of mind.
