Raynor Lawrence Carlson was born May 3, 1934 in New York, New York, the son of Raynor and Eileen O’Donnell Carlson. He passed from this life Saturday, May 31, 2014, at the age of 80.

Ray will always be remembered for his loving devotion to his wife of 37 years, Margaret Fitzpatrick Carlson, who preceded him in death. He will also be remembered for his sharp sense of humor, his world travels, patriotism and love for his children and grandchildren. A New Yorker to the end, he loved his New York Giants! Ray proudly served in the United States Army and was a Korean War veteran. Ray attended Hofstra University on Long Island, New York where he studied business administration. He had a long career in sales during which he was relocated many times from the East Coast, New Orleans, then San Francisco, a brief stay in Wilmington, Delaware, back to Long Island and ultimately settling down in Trophy Club, Texas. He was a long time member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Grapevine where he served on the finance committee when the current church was built.

Ray was also preceded in death by his parents; oldest son, Rock Carlson (Raynor Lawrence Carlson III ); and sister, Janet Carlson. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wonderful children, Scott Fitzpatrick Carlson of Dallas, Duke Carlson and wife, Leslie, of Denison, Lynn Carlson of Trophy Club and Christopher Carlson and wife, Joanne Byrne Carlson, of Annapolis, Md.; his brilliant grandchildren, Emily Carlson Graf, Liz Carlson, John Carlson, Mary Claire Carlson, Casey Ray Greener, Jake Greener, Ali Jean Greener, Luke Carlson Greener, Josie Carlson, William Carlson and Margaret Carlson; beloved sister, Eleanor Horn of California; beautiful nieces, Linda Carlson, Lisa Horn, Jackie Horn; sweet grandnephews, Christian Carlson McDonald, Quinn Wall, Jake Wall and Jake Lookossky. Ray will be missed by all.
