Restaurant : Gung Ho

Perfect new Date Night spot.

Delicious Food, Beautiful Design and Atmosphere. No Tacky TVs to distract you. I haven’t been this impressed with a new Dallas Establishment since Bullion opened Downtown and it’s in the hood!!!

Gung Ho, an upscale Chinese American Food, is one of the most exciting restaurants opening in Dallas in 2018, and is located on Lower Greenville, next-door to the popular HG Sply Co. and from the same restaurant group. Executive chef Kirstyn Brewer, formerly of Victor Tangos, has created a menu that includes pickled veggie eggrolls, crab rangoon, chicken fried rice and orange chicken.

The restaurant’s drinks are just as creative as the meals they complement. Think bold Asian flavors and spices in huge “Scorpion” bowls made to share (like the Hello Hong Kong, $55, with vodka, yuzu sake, plum brandy, raspberries, lemongrass and lemon). Our favorite is the Thai Tea Shot. Or, settle for a cocktail, like the When Pigs Fly ($10): fig-infused rum with a five-spice syrup, and lemon and orange bitters.

From vibrant turquoise bar chairs to enormous glittering chandeliers, Gung Ho’s interiors are also a sight to behold. A private room right off the bar is wrapped in red floral wallpaper and features a long wooden table — a luxe sanctuary away from the bustle of the main dining spaces.

If you’re ever craving late-night Chinese (which, let’s face it, we all do), Gung Ho is open seven days a week until 2 am. A dim sum brunch menu is coming soon.
