I stumbled upon this series on Netflix over this past weekend and I am hooked. Always fascinated with the history of Queens and their Kings and the going ons at 16th century European Court. This series has it all. A great story line, beautiful and sexy people, costumes and settings. Queen Catherine is insanely wild. Imagine organizing your execution party and practicing placing your head on the block, so you can go out with dignity and honor. That’s what Kings and Queens do when their Alliances went array. Forget the politics of today and escape into this world of love, power, sex and much scandal. No texting, no emails…just the stamp of the royal seal. A fun stay at home date-night event. Get ready to binge!!!

The highly fictionalized series follows the early exploits of Mary, Queen of Scots first aired back in 2013 on the CW and is now on Netflix. The first season opens in 1557, with Mary living in French court and awaiting her marriage to Prince Francis, to whom she has been engaged since they were six. Mary has to contend with changing politics and power plays, as well as her burgeoning feelings for Francis and the romantic attentions of Francis’s bastard half-brother, Bash. Francis’s mother, Catherine de’ Medici, secretly tries to prevent the marriage following Nostradamus’s confidential prediction that the marriage will lead to Francis’s death. The series also follows the affairs of Mary’s Scottish handmaidens Kenna, Aylee, Lola, and Greer, who are searching for husbands of their own at French Court.
