The tree on the hill at the Lakewood Shopping Center is one of those images we’ve come to associate with the holidays. That’s why we were so sad to see the Cedar Tree die years ago. But alas, there’s a brand new tree to light up this Christmas and we’re looking forward to the festive display.

The local shops will stay open late and offer refreshments that evening. There will also be face painting, pictures with Santa Claus, a bounce house, a petting zoo, and performances by Studio B, the Lipscomb Elementary choir, Woodrow Wilson High School Variations choir and band, the Mata Elementary orchestra, and Restoration Blues. The event is free. Unwrapped toys will be collected for Lakewood Service League.
