Six June…A Dance Expose Dallas City Performance Hall

This is one of my favorite and architecturally interesting performance halls Downtown in our Dallas Arts District. The Dallas City Performance Hall.

Fort Worth native and BWDP rehearsal director/répétiteur Joy Atkins Bollinger is thrilled to share her first choreographic work for BWDP—Carved In Stone. “My piece is about life, learning, and growth. It explores how we are shaped by our experiences and what makes a person who they are. It is about the path that carves us into the individual we become and how we grow and change because of those moments in our lives. In one word, it’s about discovery,” says Bollinger.

Skin commences with luscious movement, and begins to unravel into gut-twisting athleticism. Choreographers Dionne and Andy Noble were named in Houston’s 100 Creatives by the Houston Press. Their choreographic work with NobleMotion Dance has been critically recognized and presented at such prestigious venues as The Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, The Kennedy Center, and the Alvin Ailey Theatre. Their work was recently featured on ABC’s Emmy Award-winning television series, American Crime.

Artistic director Kimi Nikaidoh says of SIX June, “The various Texas dance communities which claim Wood, Bollinger, and the Nobles have long been stimulated by their passion and creativity. Our showcase of their talents and unique perspectives is a riveting one, worthy of some Texas-sized pride.”
